And we saved her from a Surgery
An 32 year young female with ulcerative colitis was having persistent diarrhoea and per rectal bleed in spite of steroids. She was advised for colectomy and planned for surgery. She visited Noble Gastro Hospital for an opinion where we performed colonoscopy and on biopsy we found CMV virus inclusions and CMV DNA was high.
She was treated by gancyclovir for 21 days. She recovered and now she is on low dose steroids and azatioprine. This young lady surgery could be saved because we diagnosed CMV and treated it.
